It’s the Perfect Time for the Perfect Day Exercise
There’s no better time than New Year’s Eve to work out what you want in life
What’s your Perfect Ordinary Day?
Imagine it is five years into the future. That amount of time is suggested because it is not too far away to be unrecogisable, but is enough time to achieve a lot. (Hat tip to Shaunta Grimes and her Perfect Day article.)
Now, the Perfect Day exercise is one my mother, a clinical psychologist, introduced me to years and years ago. It’s been around for a while.
The Perfect Day is an ordinary day, not a birthday or special moment. It is just an average day. Your task is to write a schedule from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed.
Perfect Day example
Here is an example I did earlier:
7 am: Wake up (where and with whom) and go for a half-hour walk outside (walking, yoga, weights, or swimming)
7.30 am: Shower or bath
8.00 am: Breakfast with the partner and kids. Get them ready for school.
8.30 am: Walk kids to school
9 am: Put on washing. Novel writing (one hour)
